How to Install Firefox 4.0 Beta 2 Pre in Ubuntu Lucid From Silverwave PPA(Monthly Updates Only)

Firefox 4.0 beta 2 pre is now available in silverwave PPA and it is devoid of any kind of errors, which is unfortunately the case with ubuntu-mozilla-daily PPA currently. Silverwave PPA will give you only monthly updates and so instead of getting swamped by daily updates, you will get the latest Firefox 4.0 releases every month.



What's New in Firefox 4.0 Beta 2 Pre?
  • Tabs are now on top by default on Windows only - OSX and Linux will be changing when the theme has been modified to support the change.
  • Crash protection whenever there is a crash in the Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plugins.
  • You can search for and switch to already open tabs in the Smart Location Bar.
  • Native support for the HD HTML5 WebM video format.
  • The stop and reload buttons have been merged into a single button on Windows, Mac and Linux.
  • A new 'Make into App Tab' option.

How to Install Latest Firefox Beta in Ubuntu Lucid, Karmic From PPA?
  • By adding silverwave PPA, you get monthly updates. Two different PPA for Ubuntu Lucid and Ubuntu Karmic respectively.
For Ubuntu Lucid 10.04
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:silverwave/one-daily-a-month-1
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox-4.0

For Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:silverwave/one-daily-a-month-3
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox-4.0
  • Done. 
  • Now goto Applications - Internet - Shiretoko Web Browser.
