Android Market Celebrates 10 Billion App Downloads With $0.10 Sale of Top Apps

"One billion is a pretty big number by any measurement. However, when it’s describing the speed at which something is growing, it’s simply amazing," wrote Eric Chu, director of Android Developer Ecosystem, in a recent blog post. According to official Google statistics, 1 billion apps are being downloaded from Android Market every single month and the total tally now stands at a staggering 10 billion application downloads.

Android Market Crosses 10B Application Downloads
After almost 3 years since it was officially unveiled, applications downloads from Android Market  crossed 10 billion mark for the very first time. To celebrate this event, Google has partnered with Android developers to give away top selling applications for a pittance for the next 10 days! The first set of apps for sale at 10 Cents each included Asphalt 6 HD, Color & Draw for Kids, Endomondo Sports Tracker Pro, Fieldrunners HD, Great Little War Game, Minecraft, Paper Camera, Sketchbook Mobile, Soundhound Infinity & Swiftkey X.

Second set of applications is already up and they include even more popular applications such as Fruit Ninja, Reckless Racing, Beautiful Widgets, Flick Golf, Read It Later Pro and so on.
