Replicant OS: FSF's fully free Android

From an ideological perspective, Replicant OS is the mobile/tablet variant of FSF's GNU/Hurd OS. It is aimed at creating a fully free-as-in-freedom Android which is devoid of any proprietary pieces of software, and one that is also easily installable on popular devices. Replicant OS hits version 4.2, adds support for new devices
According to the people behind the project, the biggest motivation behimd this new version of Replicant OS was to get it to work on newer devices. All the devices that were supported by Replicant 4.0, which include Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S, Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), were successfully ported to version 4.2. Apart from that, support for a new device was added which is the mighty Galaxy Note 2 N7100.

This release also puts the emphasis on security. The Replicant 4.2 images for devices are now built in the userdebug fashion, which ensures a better level of security.
